Evolution of an age old healing practice – how infrared saunas are battling cancer in addition to improving health and well-being.

If you are like most people, hearing the word sauna triggers a very particular image in our minds. An image perhaps of a small, scorching room lined with wooden benches centered around a pile of very hot rocks and filled with strangers in towels sweating profusely. Most may consider this as too invasive and perhaps unhygienic. On the contrary, sauna is a healing tradition that dates back more than 2,000 years. Immersing oneself in a high-temperature environment, despite sweaty strangers, is recognized as one of the most effective ways to cleanse the body and eliminate toxins through our skin. This detoxifying ability of saunas is just the beginning to lead a vibrant and disease-free life. Enter the evolution of sauna – the infrared sauna.

Infrared saunas, compared to traditional saunas, is a refinement of the application of heat therapy to the body. Infrared saunas allow heat to be generated in the body at the right spots with pinpoint precision. The application of infrared heat therapy can be divided into three categories: (i) near-infrared, (ii) mid-infrared and (iii) far-infrared.

  • Near-Infrared, otherwise known as light therapy, uses a special LED to permeate the outer surface of the skin and promote cell health and skin rejuvenation.
  • Mid-infrared has been shown to reduce pain and promote weight loss in the body.
  • Far infrared generates heat deeper in the body which helps to pull toxins from deep within while lowering blood pressure.

Studies on impact of infrared Sauna

While plenty of health practitioners provide anecdotal evidence on the benefits of infrared saunas, there are, in fact, a number of published studies that quantitatively validate these health benefits.

A scientific review by a Canadian researcher found four studies that confirm the use of far infrared saunas in treating patients with cardiovascular disease, five studies in the treatment of coronary risk factors, and one study in treating chronic pain.

Other published studies for infrared saunas include trimming body fat and eliminating toxic xenobiotics (foreign chemicals) from the body. A 1981 study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) found that regular use of an infrared sauna exerts a weight-loss effect on the body. Infrared Sauna versus Cancer Cells

In a number of ongoing studies, infrared radiation therapy are being used to target malignant cancer cells which are highly susceptible to such radiation.

As explained by Dr. Irvin Sahni in a Truth About Cancer docu-series interview:

“…by exposing your body to that heat, you’re selectively killing or eradicating those less viable cells, those cancer cells, without hurting your normal cells. And so a far infrared sauna is useful because it can help you sweat, excrete toxins, and in theory eliminate cancer cells which can’t survive the heat as well as the normal cells.”

Studies published in the Journal of Cancer Science and Therapy found that after just 30 days of infrared treatment, tumor-infected mice saw reductions in their cancerous masses of up to 86% − even with low-temperature infrared exposures of as little as 77 degrees Fahrenheit (25 Celsius). In Japan, additional studies on infrared treatment found that infrared-induced, whole-body hyperthermia helped strongly inhibit the growth and spread of breast cancer cells in mice, without causing any harmful side effects.

Bottom line, regular use of infrared saunas can potentially fight or prevent the onset of certain cancerous cells within the body!

In Finland, saunas are regarded as places for mental relaxation and physical rejuvenation. Today, this unique Finnish culture has been exported far and wide leading to a rising trend in sauna usage. It is no surprise that modern day infrared saunas are highly regarded for their ability to burn calories, detoxify skin and clear the mind. While people who visit saunas regularly claim to experience post-sauna bliss, there are surprisingly very few studies that empirically validate such claims, until now.

This year, we are finally beginning to understand how sitting, and perhaps copiously sweating, in the sauna, benefits the body physiologically. The key, it turns out, is our body’s circulatory system. A new study published in the Journal of Human Hypertension proposes that people who regularly use saunas experience a decrease in systolic and diastolic blood pressure. These are the two components of a blood pressure reading—the systolic is first (top), which is indicative of the pressure your heart is exerting, and the diastolic is second (bottom), which is a reading of the pressure in your arteries. Lowering one or both of these numbers can be beneficial for those who have hypertension or high blood pressure.

The study claims that sitting in the heat of the sauna causes the heart to mimic a cardiovascular exercise. Blood pumps faster, sweat increases, blood vessels dilate, and the heart rate rises up to 120 beats per minute. In essence, sitting and relaxing in a sauna is equivalent to going for a run, for the heart at least. That said, people who sit around in saunas should not expect toned muscles – you need proper exercise for that.

The key takeaway of the study is that sauna usage lowers blood pressure – specifically the dialostic blood pressure, up to 30 minutes after a sauna session – suggesting that consistent sauna usage has longer lasting benefits over time. No wonder the Finns are such happy and healthy people.

Compared to steam or dry-heat saunas, where a radiant heater or wood stove is used to keep the air temperature very hot (around 185°F or 85°C), infrared saunas use metallic or ceramic heat elements. These elements emit energy in the far-infrared range to heat the air up to about 140°F or 60°C. Infrared wavelengths are too long to be perceived by the eyes, but the body experiences their energy as a gentle radiant heat that can penetrate up to 1.5 inches beneath the skin.

Since infrared heat penetrates more deeply than warmed air and heats skin faster, infrared sauna users develop a more vigorous sweat at a lower temperature than they would in traditional saunas.

4 Important Facts About Colonics

What Is a Colonic and Why Do People Get One?

Let’s start with what is colonic and why people need one. A colonic is a procedure that cleans out your colon (large intestine) . At Clear Living Clinic | Colon Cleanse Toronto , we use an open system colonic equipment called the Angel of Water. It is Health Canada & FDA approved equipment that you are slightly reclined at a relaxing 45-degree angle.

What Is a Typical Colonic treatment process like?

A small disposable nozzle is attached on the inside of the seat and is inserted into the rectum. Once the nozzle is inserted, the gravity flow of water will begin. Just to give you an idea of the size of the nozzle, take a look at your smallest figure (pinky). That’s about the diameter of the nozzle. This process is the most effective and modern way to cleanse the colon.
For those of you that are more visual you can see everything coming out from a slanted mirror facing the lighted irrigation tunnel. For those of you that don’t care to see we can simple cover the mirror and allow the process just to take place.

A couple of tips:

· The longer you can hold the water the deeper the irrigation will go into the colon.

· Just relax. The tighter you hold your body the less affective the process will be

· A question of modesty? You will be covered with a fresh blanket at all times

The actual colon irrigation process is typically about 30-45 minutes however we set aside an hour for each client as some may take more time.

2. Diet

Your diet should consist of foods as close to their natural state as possible. Be sure to avoid any refined sugars and processed goods. Include these anti-parasitic foods for best results: onion, garlic, raw unsalted pumpkin seeds, raw beets, carrots, figs, papaya seeds, pomegranates and cranberry juice.

3. Herbal Supplements

Black walnut, wormwood and cloves are of the most powerful anti-parasitic herbs traditionally used to kill and eliminate parasite infections. What is Candida?

Candida is a fungus, which is a form of yeast, and a very small amount of it lives in your mouth and intestines. Its main job is to aid in digestion and nutrient absorption. Yeasts are parasitic organisms that deprive the body of nutrients. They also eliminate toxic waste into the body and been found to produce over 70 known toxins. When Candida grows from its yeast form into a fungal form, it creates waste products known as ‘mycotoxins’. Among the mycotoxins produced is ‘acetaldehyde’, a poison that is converted by the liver into alcohol. As alcohol builds up in the system, symptoms associated with alcohol intoxication develop. This is why one of the most common symptoms of Candida is ‘brain fog’.

In its fungal form, Candida grows long roots called ‘rhizoids’ that puncture the intestinal lining, leading to Leaky Gut Syndrome. This means that the digestive tract has holes in it, allowing Candida to pass through into the bloodstream. When undigested food particles leak through these holes and enter the bloodstream, the body views them as foreign invaders. Insoluble vs. Soluble fibre
